Welcome to Adirondack Ayurveda!
Ayurveda is the 5,000 year old traditional medicine of India. Ayus (life, consisting of body, mind, senses and soul) and Veda (knowledge or wisdom) is life science teachings by enlightened masters (risis) that lead us to regain our body’s natural balance. An Ayuravedic lifestyle encompasses diet, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises) that help one achieve health in mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda compliments western medicine as it incorporates modern science with ancient wisdom, enabling one to self-heal, thereby preventing disease and alleviating the symptoms of illness.
When you live an Ayurvedic lifestyle you are moving towards the Ayurvedic definition of health: One who is established in Self, who has balanced dosas (constitution), balanced agni (digestion), properly formed dhatus (tissues), proper elimination of malas (wastes), well functioning bodily processes and whose mind, body, soul, and senses area full of bliss is called a healthy person.
